Special Needs Pilgrimage

A special needs pilgrimage is a one-week fully handicapped-accessible experience of Lourdes. Every detail is lovingly considered to make for a happy and holy journey to Lourdes. While lay volunteers provide for all the personal and practical care of special needs pilgrims, a volunteer medical team provides medical supportive care for each pilgrim with special needs, including:

  • mobility needs
  • oxygen
  • kidney dialysis
  • infusion therapy
  • and more

Specialized Accommodations

The Accueil Notre-Dame is a Sanctuary’s facility overlooking the Grotto and is a fully handicapped accessible facility unique to Lourdes offering medical equipment from hospital beds to Hoyer lifts to accommodate any physical need. Accueil shared accommodations for pilgrims, families, caregivers, companions and medical professionals are situated on the same floor. All meals are served on our floor in the Accueil dining room.
