The Jubilee Door, the starting point of your pilgrimage to Lourdes in this Year of Mercy, is situated at the St. Michael’s Gate entrance of the Sanctuary.

Jubilee Year of Mercy in Lourdes

On December 8, 2015, the Year of Mercy began when Pope Francis opened the Jubilee Holy Doors in St. Peter’s Basilica. This extraordinary year continues until November 20, 2016, and our Holy Father has placed a special emphasis on pilgrimage during this time. Calling it “one of the most eloquent expressions of our faith,” there are special graces we can receive by going on pilgrimage to a shrine.YoM2

As one of the most visited shrines, the Sanctuary at Lourdes is a Jubilee Center with extra celebrations and extragraces. All pilgrims will receive a Year of Mercy “passport” that will be stamped when you walk through the Jubilee Door of Mercy with your pilgrimage group.
